Ron Howard is kicking off the new year with some choice words about President Donald Trump.
The actor and filmmaker’s remarks came in response to a user’s question on Twitter.
“Question: why is the smallest of achievements heralded as better than the second coming of Jesus when it comes to Obama, but with Trump it is only negativity from Hollywood & Democrats?” @macgeek1969 asked.
In a quote tweet, Howard answered without holding back.
“In the entertainment industry many who have known/worked (with) Trump think that while his reality show was fun and ran a long time, he’s a self-serving, dishonest, morally bankrupt ego maniac who doesn’t care about anything or anyone but his Fame & bank account & is hustling the US,” he wrote.
Howard later retweeted user @cyndi_hubach’s tweet, which echoed his perspective.
“As a former Apprentice producer, I’d say that about sums it up,” the tweet read.

Howard also answered follow-up questions related to Hollywood players running for political roles.
User @steveburr asked, “As opposed to everybody else in the entertainment industry?”
Howard clarified, “They aren’t elected servants or leading the free world …. nor in my opinion should any of us be without first gaining elected office and functioning in that post as #PresidentReagan did gaining 8 yrs experience before becoming #POTUS. like him or not, he was experienced”
Howard added that discussing different views on politics is important because it’s “constructive to hear differing opinions and weigh them as you continue to broaden your knowledge and refine your own point of view.”
He also revealed he voted for Republican Richard Nixon in 1972 after another user shared that he voted for George Bush.
Howard isn’t the only Hollywood star to speak up about Trump on social media.
On Wednesday, Mark Hamill shared a link to a story about Mitch McConnell along with his own message for his followers.
