Ocasio-Cortez Accepts Offer, Will Serve As Co-Chair Of Biden Campaigns Climate Task Force

Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has selected Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for a top campaign position to push for climate change and her radical “Green New Deal.”

Ocasio-Cortez will now be able to promote her radical $93 trillion Green New Deal, which gives the government far more control over the economy and imposes a complete takeover of some private industries.

The group “also includes Varshini Prakash, the executive director of the Sunrise Movement, the youth-led champions of the Green New Deal,” CNN reports. “The task forces, which also cover health care, the economy, criminal justice, and education, include a lineup of progressive leaders and top Biden campaign aides and allies. Sanders revealed plans to form the advisory panels when he dropped out of the presidential primary last month, a sign of both campaigns’ desire to form a united front against President Donald Trump and smooth over worries among Democrats that the party would splinter along ideological lines.”

Ocasio-Cortez spokeswoman Lauren Hitt said in a statement that AOC made the decision to join the task force “with members of the Climate Justice community,” calling it an “important first step” and pledging that “she will be fully accountable to them and the larger advocacy community during this process.”

“She believes the movement will only be successful if we continue to apply pressure both inside and outside the system,” Hitt said. “This is just one element of the broader fight for just policies.”

CNN also reports that former President Barack Obama has been in talks to possibly join Biden’s climate panel.

This has already been quite the week for both Biden and AOC.

Biden is still facing very serious allegations from Tara Reade, who served as a staffer to Biden when he was in the U.S. Senate.

Reade alleges that Biden sexually assaulted her in 1993 when she was one of his Senate aides.

Reade has also said she is willing to testify under oath about her allegations.

Recently resurfaced videos also show Biden “joking” about an incident in which he chased a “lovely group of women” into an all-female dorm.

Ocasio-Cortez has also had a bad week.

AOC’s re-election chances have been in flux in recent weeks amid slumping poll numbers and the looming 2020 Census, which could give New York lawmakers the opportunity to eliminate AOC’s House seat, which would remove her from Congress.

Now, Ocasio-Cortez has been removed from the progressive union-backed Working Families Party (WFP) ballot line by a New York State Supreme Court judge, another blow to her competitive Democratic primary fight.

AOC removed from the primary ballot after receiving only 13 signatures from members of the progressive group. She needed 15 signatures in order to get on the ballot.

For perspective, there are currently 5,903 active members of the party in Queens and the Bronx.

She couldn’t get 15 signatures for the WFP line out of nearly 6,000 potential members.
