Arizona Republican State Senate Majority Whip Sonny Borrelli is floating the idea of introducing a resolution to “reclaim electors” if evidence from the audit in Maricopa County could change the results of the 2020 election outcome in the state.
Borrelli spoke on Monday about what the Arizona Republican-led Senate can do should there be enough evidence uncovered to put Joe Biden’s win in doubt.
Borrelli echoed a similar point as Senate GOP President Karen Fann, who said last week the chamber does not have the power to recall electors by itself.
“I believe the only power we can [exert] is if, for example, I’m seeing evidence of ‘there’s no way to certify this.’ The county is not coming to us with answers to any of the questions that we have, or we can’t come up with a definitive conclusion,” Borrelli said.
“So, therefore, if you can’t come up with a definitive solution or conclusion, then how can this thing be certified in the first place? I believe the only thing we could do going forward once we get the full report done is reclaim the electors, but that will take a resolution to do so,” Borrelli added.
Borrelli said he is “prepared” to put forth such a resolution if the audit’s results are inconclusive.
The audit in Maricopa County has taken many turns in recent weeks.
Last week, Fann said that the state Senate lacks the authority to recall electors.
During an interview on One America News, host Natalie Harp asked about Arizona Republican State Sen. Wendy Rogers calling for a new election after the Arizona Senate held a briefing on the Maricopa County audit.
Fann responded by saying the Arizona Senate has the power to help the auditors get materials and information, but the question of decertifying the election will be left up to others.
“The Senate body — we do not have the authority to do that. So, this is what we have said, and I want to make this very clear on the record,” Fann said.
“We as a Senate body — we have the ability to subpoena information because we make laws. And we’re entitled to have the information to determine how to write those laws. That’s why we are successful in court, and that’s what we’re doing. It’s all about election integrity. It’s not about the Trump-Biden race. It’s not about the Kelly-Martha McSally race,” she added.
Arizona Republican State Sen. Wendy Rogers called for “the Biden electors to be recalled to Arizona” and demanding that a “new election must be conducted” following explosive news this week.
Cyber Ninjas CEO Doug Logan testified on Thursday that the auditors reported 74,000 ballots that were received and included in the 2020 Election in Maricopa County than were mailed out.
Logan said they found 74,243 mail-in ballots with no clear record of them ever being sent.
Logan stated that the standard of verification for mail-in ballots dropped considerably as the volume of the ballots increased.
Logan claimed that Maricopa County is withholding mail-in ballot images that can be used as evidence.
Logan also said there were 11,326 individuals who did not show up on the version of the voter rolls prepared the day after the election but did show up on the Dec. 4 list as not only being registered but having voted.
And he said there were nearly 4,000 people listed as registering to vote after the cutoff on Oct. 15.
